Landing in Hanoi bought my country count up to 95. This is my first visit to Vietnam and I’m a little undecided about it. The thing that hits you most is the difference between sleepy Laos and manic Hanoi.
One of the first lessons we got was how to cross the road. Traffic here is incredibly stupid. Red and green lights mean nothing. To get across the road you raise your hand and step out into the traffic. They wont stop but they will go around you. Once you reach half way, you raise the other hand and keep walking. Crossing the road here is like russian roulette at times!
Last night we went down into the old quarter and had dinner. In the space of an hour there were 2 motorcycle accidents outside the restaurant.
This morning was a walk out to see a wrecked B52 and then down to check out Ho Chi Minh’s dead body. Bizzare! Would be easier to get Madam Tusards to make a wax works and bury the poor guy… but then that’s just my opinion.
A trip to the War Museum… it was closed, followed by a visit to Hanoi Hilton rounded out my day before I needed to go back to the hotel to rest my bruised and swollen leg for a few hours.
Dinner was at a nice restaurant.. Now I’m back here packing for Halong Bay. I probably wont have internet until 3rd March so cya later 🙂
