Dinner with the local family was really good the other evening. When we arrived we were blessed by the elders for the Buddist temple and were then given a very nice traditional Laos meal which I thoroughly enjoyed. Following that was a spot of shopping at the night markets before returning to the Hotel.
Yesterday was a free day so I slept in until 9am, got up wandered around town, got a foot massage, had a chat with a couple of monks who told me that they were studying English so wanted to talk to Tourists to enable them to practise their conversational skills.
Dinner last night was amazing. 5 of us went to a restaurant called “Blue Lagoon” in Luang Prabang. It was quite easily the best service I have ever had in a restaurant anywhere. Food was absolutely perfect. Service was just incredible. All food came out at the same time and was served by 5 waiters simultaneously. The second your water glass was empty it was refilled. The waiters hovered without being noticed. The executive chef and the owner came to the table to make sure everything was okay. If you are ever in Luang Prabang, I cannot recommend a better place.
This morning we braved a 7 hour bus trip to arrive in Vang Vieng. I’ve had a quick walk around and this town is the “happy” town. Lots of magic mushrooms. Basically the rule is that if it has “Happy” in the name, dont touch it… unless of course you really want to.
Dinner was at a local restaurant. Was okay but not the best meal I have had. Am totally exhausted now so am off to bed.
Nite Nite all
