The end (or beginning) of the Trans-Siberian is of course Moscow and by the time I reached there I was in quite a reflective mood. I had just completed a journey that I had wanted to do for 10 years. Yet another life goal finally achieved. This year seems to have been full of them. I dont know how you top off a journey like that.
Moscow was fun. I visited the Kremlin, Red Square, St Basils and some of the areas surrounding Red Square. I also managed to discover how expensive Moscow really is. An average meal will set you back about £20 and that’s before it becomes anything special. I know, that doesnt sound too over the top BUT I had just spent the last few months mainly in Asia so it’s all relative and spending £20 on a basic meal when you have been used to spending 1/10th of that is a shock.
My final morning in Moscow was a bit of a surprise. I had fallen asleep with the curtains open the night before and I woke up to one of the most beautiful sunrises I have ever seen.
On Thursday 26th July, I caught a flight back to London… and that ended what had been a very nice and mostly relaxing 6 months of travel.
