Intrigued? Disgusted?

Kopi Luwak is the most expensive and rarest coffee in the world. It’s produced in Indonesia and since I am in Bali I had to try a cup. See the cute little animal in the picture below? It’s an Asian Palm Civet or in Indonesia it’s called a Luwak.

So what does this animal have to do with my coffee? Well this particular Luwak (and yes, it WAS this one!) ate my coffee beans and poo’ed them out. See the poo’ey coffee beans in the picture below? I’m not joking!

After he had poo’ed out my coffee beans the husk was washed off the beans….

…and the beans were roasted…

…and then I drank some of the most expensive coffee in the world.

Was it nice and was it worth it? You are going to have to try Luwak Coffee and decide that for yourself 🙂
