The first thing you are going to notice is that the website has changed. I figured the old site was getting to be a bit of a mess and I wanted something that was going to be clean and basic so welcome to the new version of Earth Expedition. Feel free to let me know what you think of the new site.

The time has come to pack my gear and get back on the road. I’m finally feeling well and am looking forward to a bit more travel. Those who know my normal packing style (very light) may be a little surprised to see my new luggage in the photo below. Ultimately it’s the same style of bag I have used for the last 10 years but one size bigger. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my old bag. I have used it for over 10 years but I figured that I would like a bit more space. The new bag is larger which means I dont always have to be as creative when I pack and can just throw things in. If anyone is looking for luggage that will last a life time, I strongly suggest one of these bags. They are unbreakable… and if by some miracle you do manage to destroy it, Eagle Creek will repair or replace your bag for free.

Getting ready to pack

So where to next? Well, I have a flight booked to Bali in Indonesia via Hong Kong. That leaves London on Monday evening (18th June) and I arrive in Bali at about midnight local time Tuesday night. A few days in Bali and then I decided on a trip to Darwin so I can try and get out to Kakadu National Park and/or maybe swimming with crocodiles. Let’s hope they arent too hungry!!! I’ve never been to Darwin before and it’s only a quick flight from Bali so I figured “Why not!”

Following Bali, I’m flying to Manila in the Philippines for a few days. Then I’m off to Seoul in South Korea before heading to Beijing to do the Trans Mongolian Railway back to London. I’ll be home on 26th July in time to go to the Olympics.

I look back at the last month with a bit of sadness in that I had to abandon some travel plans because I was ill but I am also happy that I have had the opportunity to recover. I know I will enjoy the next leg of the trip much more now than I would have had I been ill.
