They call Vientiane in Laos the sleepiest capital city in Asia and it certainly seems to be. We got there after a 4 hour bus ride from Vang Vieng and went straight out for dinner, with a slight detour to the night markets, at a place called Laos Kitchen. Well worth going there if you feel the need for good food. We all enjoyed it. Food was great but the service was not so good. In any case it didnt detract from the meal.

One thing that really stands out it Laos is that regardless of whether you all order together, you never seem to get the food at the same time. That has only happened in 2 places – The home dinner and the night at the Blue lagoon – both times in Luang Prabang.

This morning we went for a walk around Vientiane and looked at some temples, the museum and a few other sites. It’s a tiny little place although I think I managed to get one of my best ever photos there… but I’ll let you judge that. It’s a monk staring out of a barred up window and it was all about being in the right place at the right time with a good camera. I really like the photo so feel free to tell me what you think.

3pm we hopped on a plane to Hanoi and here I sit in a noisy hotel in down town Hanoi. I’m sad to have left Laos as it is indeed one of the nicest countries I have been to but onwards and upwards and I am now in Vietnam… Number 95!
